Abarth 695 Tributo Maserati

Fiat-owned performance brand Abarth is to launch a special-edition model based on luxury supercar brand Maserati.
The Abarth 695 Tributo Maserati is a tricked-out version of the Fiat 500 which layers in Abarth performance touches and an admittedly-impressive Maserati veneer.
Somewhat reminiscent of the Aston-Martin Cygnet, the Tributo Maserati is a convertible model finished in a color exclusive to Maserati, Pontevecchio Bordeaux.
In collaboration with Maserati, Abarth engineers uprated the 16V 1.4-liter turbo engine, giving it an output of 180hp to the special electronic gearbox, which Abarth says offers reduced gearshift times.
A set of new 17-inch tires featuring the Maserati ‘Neptun’ design and the distinctive hexagonal exhaust pipes found on Maserati cars such as the GranTurismo or Quattroporte complete the model.
Abarth says that it will only produce 499 of the 695 Tributo Maserati, which will be launched at the Geneva Motor Show (March 8-18).

Ciccarese’s vision of the iPhone 5 predicts a slightly curved back. The body of the phone, in fact, looks similar to Apple’s Magic Mouse. The display is flat and “retina” in nature and the phone tapers off at the top and bottom.
The headphone jack has moved to the side to accommodate the new design and the back looks to be blasted aluminum, similar to what is used on the MacBook Pro, MacBook Air and iMac.

#6 Amanu by Odin

Musky with  various middle notes including Gardenia and Jasmine, Odin’s Amanu #6 has been a sort of obsession. Deep yet light enough to be worn daily by a man or a woman. The primitive ambiance of southern Mediterranean peaks combined with the ancient fertility of Anatolian soils brings forth a herbaceous blend of verdant galbanum and raw lentisque. The cortex of Amanu revolves around the woody rusticity of cedarleaf and the heady complexity of jasmine sambac. Rooting textures of amberwood, musk and live moss endow this earthy scent with a lush maturity.

Maitre du Temps Chapter two watch

Maitre du Temps Chapter two watch combines 2 different functions (big date and triple calendar) along with great aesthetics highlighted by diamonds, on to this common platform. Despite all complications within its core movement, reading time didn’t get much easier than this, especially for the specific genre of watches.
Housed in an 18K gold casing, the outer lining is adorned with a total of 205 sparkling white diamonds, which highlight more prominently the 16mm thickness, 42 mm width, and 52mm length of the unit. In fact this decoration seems to go perfectly well with the other option which includes Rose Gold with white leather strapping, or the white gold with the chocolate brown option. The main dial however, features a white base on which a black circular path is marked, with prominent white roman numerals for the hours. Again, the base color of this silver toned dial can be chosen either in white or simply chocolate brown.
Maitre du Temps Chapter Two watch with chocolate brown detailing

The rollers on the upper and lower end of the main dial indicate the month and day, whereas the particular date would be visible on the 12 ‘o’clock slot. There also is a smaller second’s dial at the 6 ‘o’ clock slot. Turning the watch over, the exposed skeleton of the movement comes to view, which has been protected with transparent sapphire crystal, just the frontier dial. Inside this cage, is the Automatic movement which has 338 components, out of which 32 are precious jewels. The vibration rate is pegged at 28,800 vibrations per hour, with a power reserve of 50 hours.
The only unknown aspects of this timepiece is the exact price, but estimates put it between $54,870- $164,611 a piece, but not with surety. Also no word as yet, if it is a limited edition just like the case for the Chapter One watch. But, surely Peter Speake Marin and Daniel Roth deserve the kudos for their creation.

The Breitling for Bentley GMT V8 Limited Edition

To celebrate the launch of the Continental GT V8 with its powerful new 4.0 V8 engine, Breitling has created a 250-piece limited series of the Bentley GMT chronograph.
Its distinguishing feature is the mobile inner bezel in a metallic red shade which depicts 24 cities for the GMT (second time zone) function.
The dial is equipped with an red triangle-tipped hour hand completes one rotation every 24 hours.
That allows the user to instantly read off the time in all the world’s timezones in relation to that shown by the 24-hour hand.
Movement is the Swiss automatic Breitling caliber 47B with 38 jewels, 28,800 vph and a power reserve of 48 hours.

The selfwinding chronograph movement, chronometer-certified by the COSC, offers another technical asset exclusive to the Breitling for Bentley collection: A 30-second chronograph with a sweep seconds hand making one full turn of the dial in half a minute and thus enabling readings accurate to the nearest 1/8th of a second.

The Porsche Macan

Porsche’s new compact SUV is to be called the Porsche Macan, derived from the Indonesian word for ‘tiger’, the luxury German automaker confirmed February 16. Releasing the first teaser sketch and video for the model, Porsche also confirmed that it will begin production in 2013 as the fifth Porsche model line, following in the footsteps of the larger Cayenne SUV.
The firm’s first impressions show a low, sleek model which is known to be based on the Audi Q5 platform, with a sportier styling and premium interior.
It is believed that the model will feature 2.0 and 3.0 liter gasoline and diesel engines, slightly more powerful than those in the Audi Q5, with a Macan Turbo S also expected to follow, possibly alongside a hybrid model.
In a statement, Porsche said that the animal roots of the name Macan, which is derived from Indonesian language, reflected the model’s characteristics such as “suppleness, power, fascination and dynamics.”
Its introduction is likely to mark the start of a turf war between Porsche and Maserati, which introduced its own (admittedly larger) Kubang SUV last year.

Babyccinos: Cappuccinos for Babies

A story on ‘babyccinos,’ a trend in which coffee shops are selling decaf cappuccinos to pint-sized tots, is gaining buzz among the caffeinated, hipster-parent crowd.
Babyccinos are made from either steamed milk and foam, or — for the gourmand tot — spiked with a shot of decaf espresso, and were featured in a story published in The Brooklyn Paper this week — a piece which has been picked up by popular food blogs and publications like Gothamist, Eater, Zagat and the Atlantic Wire.
The trend has become particularly popular in Brooklyn, where locals are obsessive when it comes to coffee culture, the author notes, and the culture even has tots turning into mini coffee-clutching consumers with an early taste for java.
The concept first started in Australia, where the term babyccino denotes macchiato-like drinks with a shot of decaf espresso topped with steamed milk and froth, or an entirely hot milk-based drink topped with cinnamon or chocolate powder that’s kid-friendly.
And while doctors say the amount of caffeine is negligible in decaf coffee (the story says that a shot of decaf espresso contains less caffeine than a soda) reaction to the trend has spilled over onto Facebook and Twitter, where readers either defend the trend as harmless — “a way to keep the kids happy so parents can enjoy their coffee in peace” — to dismay — “‎*sigh* Leave the babies and their yet to be fully developed kidneys and stomachs, alone already.”

De Bethune DB28 Aiguille d’Or watch

De Bethune DB28 Aiguille d’Or watch was released as a limited edition of just 50 units. It will re-master the technology and engineering which it had shown last year and won awards, at the Geneva Watchmaking Grand Prix. Setting it apart in the now crowded world of luxury watches, is the special pocket watch shaped exterior frame of the casing, all made from high grade titanium.
The DB28 Aiguille comes with a distinctively different Grade 5 titanium casing, which has been given a sort of multi-faceted design. Even though the central portion remains circular in shape, the outer frame bears a prominent pocket watch-like shape which shows shades of the old world charm. The next most prominent is the delicately worked hours and minutes hands, where the minute wand carries a pink gold baguette design, apart from its delicate shape. This perhaps lends it a regal aesthetic touch. Beneath this is a partially exposed skeleton of the core movement which is based around the DB2115 caliber movement with 2 barrels. Out of the many microscopic parts, 29 are precious jewels, which play their own part in the 28,800 vibrations per hour beating rate. The power reserve of this mechanism is pegged at 6-days, before a rewind is needed.
Since recent times have shown many watches with their own moon trackers, this one too feature it’s own at the 6’o’ clock position. Helps in watching the different phases of earth’s only satellite. Other notable features include the hand coated dial, Cotes de Bethune motif, apart from the black alligator leather strap. Anti reflective and scratch proof sapphire crystal covering has been put on both sides of the watch, which includes the front dial, and the rear end exposed skeleton.

Valentine's Day Dress

Giving a new meaning to the tradition of giving roses on Valentine’s day, Walmart-owned supermarket chain Asda has partnered with Joe Massie, an award-winning florist and designing a dress entirely made of 1,725 roses, inspired by flower power. The gown, designed for the  Valentine’s Day, involves more than 170 hours of labor and reportedly weighs just under two stone.
The gown features petals from 1,000 Naomi red roses all over the dress, fifteen Carmen roses and 200 chrysanthemums, decorated with gold-leaf, around the hip and skirt of the dress, and petals from 150 Purple Power roses, 75 gerberas and 300 carnations, all picked from Walmart’s Valentine's bouquet collection, to flush this creation.
"I wanted to embody everything a romantic bouquet of Valentine's Day flowers should be - classic, elegant and with a sexy twist," says Mr. Massie.

The Fang shoe by Iris van Herpen

The Fang shoe from Iris van Herpen and United Nude is perhaps the fiercest piece of footwear ever created. This ferocious wedge was created for Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture in Paris. Each shoe features 10 fangs apiece and comes in several different colors and styles.
Creating the Fang shoe is not as simple as throwing a set of extremely long teeth onto a pair of wedges and calling it a day. Creating the fangs is a lengthy process, with each fang made using carbon fiber and fiber glass mixed together in a slow molding process. These shoes wowed the audience at the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture, but there was no confirmation as to whether or not they would ever make it to market.
