Yayoi Kusama and Louis Vuitton collaboration in 2012
A collaboration between the Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama and Louis Vuitton is set to debut with the New York show, coinciding with artist’s retrospective at Tate Modern Museum in London in February which will then move to the New York’s Whitney Museum in July. While no official images of the collaboration have been made available, the above image of Marc Jacobs (pre-studliness) holding an LVMH bag customized and signed by Kusama, dating from 2006, perhaps can be seen as a precursor of what we can expect. Lots of artsy polka dots.

Noir 50 by Sit
Noir 50 by Sit is like a literal interpretation of the comfortable Croc Clogs that have weaseled their way into the hearts of many. For all those animal rights activist out there, however, it has to be noted that these heels are not made out of real crocodiles, no matter how frighteningly realistic they look.
Created for the Hybrid Thinking exhibit currently being held at Jonahton Levine Gallery in New York, Noir 50 by Sit explores “the troubled relationship between mankind and the animal kingdom” and the concept “of instinct, identity and metamorphoses,” as put by the art gallery.

The Escoffiette Randwich
The Escoffiette Randwich Delivery service is perfect for people who like surprises. The term ‘Randwich,’ which happened to be coined by two employees at Etsy, is a combination of two words: random sandwich. It is basically a delivery service that provides surprise sandwiches. Since menus can be overwhelming and lunchtimes very short, Escoffiette Randwich Delivery takes the pressure off the customer.
Based in Brooklyn, Escoffiette Randwich Delivery services “anywhere accessible by the New York City subway system,” according to its site. Also, because it are a startup, it must take orders two days in advance and will only accept payment through Paypal and Venmo. Nevertheless, the possibility of getting a sandwich like its five-spice meatballs with lavender béchamel may just be worth all the trouble, especially since its goal “is to research winning flavor combinations.”

Titanic items will be sold by Guernsey’s Auctioneers on April
Five thousand items recovered from the Atlantic grave of the Titanic, from a 17-ton piece of the hull to china used to serve first-class passengers, will go on auction in New York a century after the liner sank.
The unprecedented collection will be sold as a single lot by Guernsey’s Auctioneers on April 11, 100 years after Titanic’s maiden voyage in the city where the doomed ship had been destined when it was holed by an iceberg off Newfoundland.
Guernsey’s described the auction as “historic,” saying it was “the first and only sale of objects that have been recovered from the wreck site of Titanic 2.5 miles (four kilometers) below the ocean’s surface.”
The auctioneers estimate the lot will sell for a whopping US$189 million.
The items, a handful of which went on display Thursday, are a sometimes ghostly reminder of the 1,500 people who perished when the supposedly unsinkable White Star liner, sailing out of Southampton, England, went down.
Included are everything from shaving kits to children’s toys, tobacco pipes, and the brass buttons on the smart navy blue uniforms worn by Captain Edward Smith and his officers.
Hints of the glamorous life on board abound, such as crystal decanters from the first-class cabins, a battered chandelier from the A la Carte Restaurant, silver platters and blue-and-gold porcelain dishes.
Remnants of the great ship’s working parts will also be on the auction block.
The compass monitored by watch officers in the wheelhouse is for sale, along with a running light, a trio of bronze whistles from a funnel, and a bell.

Cire Trudon Store
The Cire Trudon shop in Paris, located at 78 rue de Seine is the world’s oldest candle maker was founded in 1643. Past customers have included Marie Antoinette and Napoleon. Current customers include Kenzo, Guerlain, Hermes and Dior.
Few brands have 367 years of heritage and know-how behind them, and few are lucky enough to have the skills of a talented marketer, patron of the arts and designer to support them. Cire Trudon literally gave light to the people (and royalty) and produced such high quality candles that it has survived, even flourished, in an electric world.
Ramdane Touhani has led the company since 2006, and in a few short years has created a wide range of products, a cult following, a store in Paris and a second store in the heart of NYC's Nolita neighborhood.
Prices range from $20-$375.

The Wax Candelier by Takeshi Miyakawa
Since the Candelier by Takeshi Miyakawa is made entirely out of wax, when it is lit, it will naturally drip hot wax onto whatever surface it is directly above, including potential people.
Created for the Creatomatic show at New York’s Eyebeam Gallery, it took ten weeks to cast and mold. It’s a shame that it will only take a few hours for this intricate candle creation to melt away.

$88 Million Penthouse sold in Manhattan
Yekaterina Rybolovleva, daughter of former fertilizer magnate Dmitry Rybolovlev, paid full asking price for the multiroom spread at 15 Central Park West.
This is a record for an individual transaction in a city renowned for pricey property. The record was previously owned by Sanford Weill, a former chairman of Citigroup.
The price also eclipses the $85 million another billionaire’s daughter, Petra Ecclestone, paid for the Spelling mansion in Los Angeles in June.
Forbes quoted a representative for Rybolovleva, 22, saying she had “signed a contract to purchase an apartment at 15 Central Park West… Ms. Rybolovleva is currently studying at a US university. She plans to stay in the apartment when visiting New York.”
She is a resident of Monaco and has lived in the principality and in Switzerland for the last 15 years, the statement said.
Rybolovlev is one of the small group of Russians who became fabulously wealthy during the post-Soviet privatization of the economy and are known as oligarchs.

The $100,000 bill by John Baldessari
The 25-by-75 foot $100,000 bill by conceptual artist John Baldessari. Things to know: it's titled The First $100,000 I Ever Made, it's the first work to grace the High Line billboard at West 18th Street in New York, and the $100,000 bill was an actual thing. (42,000 of them were printed for a three-week period in 1935, never circulated to the general public, and mostly destroyed in the 1960s.)

Tiffany & Co. suite at St. Regis Hotel
For $8,500 per night you can lounge on plush décor while conjuring scenes from “Breakfast at Tiffany’s” within the luxurious comforts of the St. Regis’ 14th floor Tiffany & Co. suite, which was lavishly revamped and vividly brought to life under the expert direction of John Loring, design director of Tiffany & Co.
This 1,700-square-foot suite is adorned with tons of contemporary flair — perfectly balancing its vintage sophistication, showcasing the pristine, signature ‘Tiffany’s’ hues of white and powder blue – while lavishly sprinkled with classic Tiffany & Co. accessories.
Aside from the classic Tiffany’s shade of blue adorning the room’s silver-leaf wall coverings, and the sumptuous bed’s headboard, the breathtaking dining room is undoubtedly a standout which clearly takes its inspiration from a jewel box — complete with its very own crowning jewel which comes in the form of a sparkling crystal chandelier.

Batali's Del Posto, the most expensive meal in New York
Chef Mario Batali of Del Posto restaurant has created a special meal list, which happens to be the most expensive in the city.
The meal list consists of a dinner of 12 courses with compulsory wine pairings, which totals up to $1126 for a couple.
This particular meal list overtakes the famed Masa restaurant, where a fixed meal would cost the customer $450, but that too without the compulsory wine pairing. But the reason for which the restaurant charges the amount is for the ambiance and setting for dining, as well as for the high quality food which they serve. The ingredients of the dishes and wines are imported from the farthest corners of Italy in order to give its customers the most supreme possible dining experience. Specialties of the menu are elaborate and the list goes long; Carne Cruda with Truffled Salsa, Parmigiano-Reggiano & Wild Watercress, Cesare’s PROSCIUTTO di Parma, SCUNGILLI due with Black Garlic, Black Pepper, Lemon & Parsley to name a few.
