Additional new information regarding the U.S. version of the 500 Abarth is scant. However, Fiat confirmed that the performance car will receive an all-new 1.4-liter MultiAir turbo engine in the States. In Europe, the engine delivers 135 horsepower and 221 pound-feet of torque. Fiat says the Abarth will also feature a retuned suspension and upgraded brakes.
Abarth was founded by the late Karl Abarth. He was a famed tuner of small Fiats and Simcas in Italy during the 1960s. Abarth versions of both the 500 and the Punto supermini are offered in Europe.
