The ‘Plicate’ watch

Timepieces can easily become the most noticeable factor in an outfit and the Benjamin Hubert ‘Plicate’ watch will surely turn heads.
From its sleek exterior design to its intricate interior, this watch will surely takeover conversations. Wh
at makes this timepiece special is that the inside plate upon which the clock’s hands rotate is not a smooth smooth surface. Instead it is made with a multi-faceted 3-D surface. The metal is pleated making it look like a circular fan. It brings a different way to count the minutes of time instead of using the small lines that used to line clocks. The watches strap uses a button system deviating from its usual belt-like appearance.

3D chocolate printer

Choc Edge Ltd at UK is launching a commercial 3D chocolate printer. Lead scientist Dr Liang Hao, from the University of Exeter, founded the Choc Edge company to commercialise the device after interest from retailers. 3D printing using plastic, wood and metal is already widely used by industry to create objects ranging from jewellery and footwear to human bones. Dr Hao told the BBC that chocolate printing, just like any other 3D printing technique, starts with a flat cross-section image – similar to that produced by ordinary printers turning out images, and then prints out chocolate layer by layer to create a 3D shape, without any moulding tools. “We’ve improved and simplified the machine, so now it is really easy to use,” said Dr Hao. “You just need to melt some chocolate, fill a syringe that is stored in the printer, and get creative printing your chocolate.”

The IKEA sleepover event

The IKEA sleepover was an event held at the end of November which brought 100 lucky people, ages 25 and up, to the IKEA store in Essex for a fun-filled night of massages, movies, manicures and of course, slumber. The guests, decked out in their best pajamas, were given goodie bags filled with things like midnight snacks, slippers and eye masks. UK celebrity Sam Faiers, star of ‘The Only Way Is Essex,’ was there to read everyone a bedtime story, and a sleep expert helped participants choose the right mattresses and gave tips on how to get a better night’s sleep.
The unique and customer-focused event was inspired by a Facebook group called ‘I wanna have a sleepover at Ikea.’

To kick off the UK festive season in style, Pinkberry has launched a festive collection with a difference. Working in collaboration with experimental food architects The Robin Collective, three experimental Christmas toppings were created that surprise, delight and intrigue the taste buds.
These toppings include the Christmas Tree, Santa’s Beard and Partridge in a Pear Tree. Each uniquely different, slightly unusual, but equally tasty. The experimental Christmas toppings mix natural ingredients with culinary ingenuity to create a collection that is truly interesting.
The Christmas Tree topping tastes exactly like the spindly pine while Santa’s beard is a topping made to replicate St. Nick’s furry face!
