Porsche has accomplished this with a 420 hp V8 coupled with their eight-speed Tiptronic S which has a built-in start/stop feature. The V8 will propel the car from 0-62 in 5.7 seconds and will then approach a top speed of 162 mph.

The Porsche Macan

Porsche’s new compact SUV is to be called the Porsche Macan, derived from the Indonesian word for ‘tiger’, the luxury German automaker confirmed February 16. Releasing the first teaser sketch and video for the model, Porsche also confirmed that it will begin production in 2013 as the fifth Porsche model line, following in the footsteps of the larger Cayenne SUV.
The firm’s first impressions show a low, sleek model which is known to be based on the Audi Q5 platform, with a sportier styling and premium interior.
It is believed that the model will feature 2.0 and 3.0 liter gasoline and diesel engines, slightly more powerful than those in the Audi Q5, with a Macan Turbo S also expected to follow, possibly alongside a hybrid model.
In a statement, Porsche said that the animal roots of the name Macan, which is derived from Indonesian language, reflected the model’s characteristics such as “suppleness, power, fascination and dynamics.”
Its introduction is likely to mark the start of a turf war between Porsche and Maserati, which introduced its own (admittedly larger) Kubang SUV last year.

The Porsche Design Tower

A Miami Beach condo developer plans to build a new skyscraper with a robotic parking deck built in.
The Porsche Design Tower project will allow owners to ride their vehicles into a robotic elevator system that drops them and their vehicles at their doorstep.
The $560 million tower will rise in Sunny Isles Beach as part of a collaboration between Porsche Design Group and a local developer, Gil Dezer.

“After the resident pulls over and switches off the engine, a robotic arm that works much like an automatic plank will scoop up the car and put it into the elevator.”
“Once at the desired floor, the same robotic arm will park the car, leaving the resident nearly in front of his front door.”
The condo will have 132 units over 57 stories, with larger units sporting up to four parking spaces per unit.

The latest rendering of Porsche's plug-in hybrid 918 Spyder super sports car.

Porsche wowed the crowds with the 918 Spyder. A conceptual successor to the Carrera GT, the 918 Spyder showed what a hybrid could be in the extreme. Greeted by positive reactions, Porsche approved the model for production, and has now announced that it is accepting early orders.

The production version packs a 4.0-liter V8 engine and a pair of electric motors, working in unison to deliver 718 horsepower for a 3.1-second sprint to sixty and an impressive 78 miles per gallon. Only 918 examples will be offered, each fetching $845,000.

It will take Porsche a few years to build and deliver the supercar to its buyers around the world, and to keep buyers satisfied in the meantime, the German automaker is offering a special edition of its current performance flagship. The
911 Turbo S Edition 918 Spyder (available in coupe or convertible) is essentially the same as the existing model -- right down to the $160k starting price -- but features some unique touches inspired by the new Spyder.
