Aspen, the most expensive town in America

The affluent town of Aspen in Colorado, well-known for its luxurious ski-resorts, has just been named the most expensive town in America, according to a report by The Wall Street Journal.
The median price for single-family homes in Aspen is now the highest in the country at $4.6 million, according to San Francisco-based Altos Research, surpassing other popular wealthy areas including the Hamptons, Beverly Hills and Palm Beach.

In February 2011, a home in the Maroon Creek neighborhood, outfitted with an indoor heated swimming pool and outdoor hot tub, boasting sweeping views of a waterfall, sold for $13 million. The buyer was said to be Russian, Alexander Zanadvorov, the 40-year-old owner of Sedmoi Kontinent supermarket chain.
