Hermes saree collection to debut in October 2011
Hermes is set to debut a limited edition collection of four to five silk sarees in India, with the beautiful sarees going for $1,800 each starting October 2011.
For an additional $500, India’s buyers will also have the option of pairing their sophisticated Hermes saree with a matching blouse.
Hermes previously released a gorgeous line of silk mousseline sarees, which retailed at around £1,200 each (plus £250 for the blouse) at Hermes’ London store on Sloane Street in October 2000. The sarees were elegantly designed by Sunita Kumar — a Kolkata-based designer (who is also the wife of former Indian tennis player Naresh Kumar) who worked alongside Hermes‘ expert in-house designers to create the exquisite collection.
As Hermes targets affluent luxury buyers in lucrative markets such as China and India, the limited edition saree could be the first of many India-specific product launches debuting from the iconic French luxury brand.

The first victim was a white Mercedes S Class worth £75,000 ($122,485) who was scraped badly at the side, as the Bentley proceeded on to ram into a £140,000 black ($228,625) Ferrari F430. The next two cars to be scraped were a £140,000 ($228,625) Aston Martin Rapide and a £80,000 ($130645) Porsche 911 that suffered damage at the front.
However more humiliation was staring at the face of the driver of the Bentley and her two co-passengers, as the doors of their convertible jammed.
